STUDIO policies & FAQs

ArtSea Alcove Ceramic Studio Policies

Glazing & Firing:
At ArtSea Alcove, glazing and firing is a beautiful but imperfect art. Slight variations, such as bumps or bubbles, are natural characteristics of hand-crafted ceramics. Rest assured, we will make every effort to ensure your "masterpiece" turns out as stunning as possible.

Accidents Happen:
We understand that accidents can occur. Our liability is limited to replacing a damaged piece with the same item if available or one of equal value.

Unclaimed Artwork:
Ceramic pieces and works in progress left at the studio for more than 30 days may be donated to make space for new creations.

Reservations & Deposits:
Seat reservations and deposits can be transferred to another person if needed, but they are not refundable.

We are a small, family-owned business, and your support means the world to us. Thank you for choosing ArtSea Alcove Ceramic Studio!

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does the paint-your-own pottery process work?

Guests choose a ceramic piece, select their colors, paint their design, and leave it with us for glazing and firing in our kiln. Your masterpiece will be ready for pickup in 7 days.

2. Do I need a reservation, or can I walk in?

Walk-ins are welcome during studio hours! However, reservations are recommended for larger groups or special events to ensure seating availability.

3. How much does it cost?

Prices vary based on the ceramic piece you choose. The price includes the pottery, paints, supplies, glazing, and kiln firing—no additional studio fees!

4. Can I bring my own food and drinks?

Yes! ArtSea Alcove is BYOB-friendly, so you’re welcome to bring your favorite drinks and snacks. Alcohol is allowed for 21+ guests during evening events.

5. How long does it take to paint a piece?

Most guests take 1.5 to 2 hours, but it depends on the detail of your design. There’s no time limit—paint at your own pace!

6. What if I don’t finish my piece in one visit?

No problem! You’re welcome to come back and finish as many times as you like. We just ask that you return within 15 days of your start date to complete your piece.

7. Can kids paint, or is this just for adults?

All ages are welcome!

8. Do you host private parties or group events?

Yes! We host private birthday parties, bachelorette parties, corporate events, team-building workshops, and more. Contact us to book a private event.

9. How long does it take to get my piece back?

Your pottery will be ready for pickup in 7 days.

10. What if I can’t pick up my piece?

We hold finished pottery for 30 days.

11. What type of paint do you use?

We use non-toxic, water-based ceramic glazes that become food-safe and glossy after firing in the kiln.

12. Are the finished pottery pieces food-safe?

Absolutely! Unlike other studios, we take a personalized approach—not all colors and techniques work the same. We’ll consult with you on your piece to ensure it qualifies as food-safe and check if your chosen colors are compatible for a long-lasting, beautiful result. That way, your finished piece isn’t just stunning—it’s safe and functional too!

13. Can I bring my own pottery to be fired?

No, we only fire pieces purchased and painted in our studio to ensure the safety of our kilns.

14. Do you offer refunds?

All sales are final. We do not offer refunds, but we’re happy to issue store credit if needed.

SO MANY COLORS. SO MANY POSSIBILITIES.
